The end of JustJeff

I won't be doing any kind of dramatic shutdown, but I do plan on putting an end to Just Jeff as we know it. I've decided to move my wrestling thoughts over to The Porch Piledriver message board, which is a part of the weekly radio show I co-host. Basically, I really want to get this show off the ground and I hope this will help. And I think this will save me some time and still allow me to write about wrestling, which is something I love doing. When I first started doing my blog, I wrote "five random thoughts" about everything I blogged about. I think it was a pretty cool concept but it took up a lot of time. I then started doing a liveblog for every event, but I can tell that was boring for all involved. So I think I'll just start doing a short summary of something that stuck out to me for every show. I hope it works. Also, you can still check out my Astros blog that I have with my employers at The Lufkin Daily News and The Daily Sentinel.

Liveblogging: Oklahoma State vs. Baylor

I don't know why this game is on TV, but I'll take it. Oklahoma State has a bowl berth on the line and is favored.

1st qtr: A big kickoff return by Parish Cox, some big runs and short pass plays combined with a face masking has put OSU on the Baylor 5. Bobby Reid looks a lot more comfortable in a less hostile environment. He'll get a few more games under his belt and get better in thos situations. Some conservative play calling forces OSU to settle for a field goal.

12:00: It looks like Lufkinite Cooper Castleberry is the referee for this game.

12:05: Baylor had to work a little harder for it, but got their own three-pointer. Third downs have been killing the OSU defense.

12:10: Dontrell Savage had a nice 40-yard run but then Baylor just stuffed OSU to force them to punt. But the Baylor returner muffed the punt so OSU has the ball on the Baylor 9 ad there's a touchdown reception by Tyler's Brandon Pettigrew.

12:20: Cox has made a case for player of the game with an interception to go along with his long kickoff return to start the game.

2nd qtr: Another fumble! This is the opposite of last week's game against Texas.

12:28: Check that. Call overturned.

12:32: I think special teams needs to work on the punt rush. That's three punter infractions in the last two games.

Halftime: OSU scored a bunch off a bunch of turnovers. They have about 250 yards rushing. Score's 38-3.

1:41: BEAUTIFUL interception by the outside lineman Darnell Smith. 45-3.

1:47: Donovan Woods was robbed on a pass interference but recovered a fumble and took it to the house. Great teamwork as a blocker set it all up for him before he even got the ball. 52-3!

4th qtr: The subs are in, it's 59-17. I don't think there's a need to talk about this any longer.

Liveblogging: Oklahoma State vs. Texas

Obviously, the story is that Oklahoma State has held big leads the last three years and haven't been able to close the deal. Actually, they haven't even come close. But not this year. I guarantee that OSU will not blow a two-score lead this year.

2nd qtr: Penalties are killing OSU. They average four a game and already have their fifth. Defense is playing good, offense is moving the ball but it's the little things so far. Texas up, 3-0.

7:24: Texas scored on a pass, OSU fumbled and Texas scored again. But if they can cut out these stupid little penalties and stop punt fakes AND keep playing discipline on both sides of the ball, they'll come back. OSU looked good on a drive and got some help on an unsportsmanlike conduct call but settled for a field goal.

7:30: Texas has fumbled it away! Now is the time to take this game.

7:33: Reid threw a long interception but it put Texas deep in their own territory. It's still not too late with the offense if the defense can keep them close.

7:37: Martel Van Zandt, who's from Tyler Lee, is getting eaten alive. Texas about to score again.

3rd qtr: Texas settled for a FG but Oklahoma State returned the kick off for a touchdown. Game's not over yet. I only thought I was happy to see Vince Young gone. Colt McCoy knows what he's doing.

4th qtr: This has just been a debacle. The defense actually played OK, but the offense didn't step up and there have been too many penalties. 36-10, UT.

TNA Liveblogging: Don't blink!

We got a HUGE show tonight and it's started off really good with Chris Sabin and AJ Styles talking smack.

Chris Sabin vs. AJ Styles: Too fast, but that's what happens when you try to cram everything in an hour's time. And this won't be the last time I said this. Other than that, the match was good. I just think the way it started should've had some more of a build. Here's to a lengthy program between the two.

Sting vignette: The Jeff Jarrett face turn has begun.

Lance Hoyt vs. Ron Killings: Not bad. Let's see what the James Gang does with Truth now. James Gang quits. Kip kept getting his mic turned off. You'd think he'd learn to hurry up and speak.

Christopher Daniels vs. Robert Roode: So it's AJ, Truth and Roode in a three-way to decide who goes against Sting. That would make for a weak title match, in my opinion, but that's OK since Samoa Joe vs. Kurt Angle will sell the PPV.

Christian Cage vs. Rhyno: That was pretty cool. They had a match that determined what weapons each of them would have at their PPV match. I just wish they could've saved that for a week and put that time into the AJ-Sabin match.

Liveblogging: The finale before Cyber Sunday

Edge and Randy Orton segment: WWE has a nice twist to lead up to Cyber Sunday. Fans can vote for John Cena to face Big Show, Booker T or Jonathon Coachman. I think if Coach wins, this thing is rigged or fans are really stupid.

Triple threat match: Funny how WWE tells you who they want the fans to vote for. I'll bet the house that Carlito wins the vote.

Lita vs. Maria: Lita wins. A Mickie vs. Lita feud is just what the women's wrestling fan ordered. This will be a good match if WWE does it right.

Randy Orton vs. Triple H: It was what it was. I need to find out what's wrong with Shawn Michaels.

Ric Flair segment: Please, please, please vote for the American Dreeeeeeam.

Cryme Tyme vs. Viscera and Charlie Haas: Cryme Tyme is starting to grow on me. I like how they tried to shake hands with Jim Ross.

John Cena vs. opponent of your choosing: Ugh, it was Coach in a landslide. Maybe WWE knows who their appealing to after all.

ECW liveblogging: Big Show vs. RVD

Big Show continues to be the guy to carry the torch for ECW. I've gained a lot of respect for him the past few months.

Sandman vs. Matt Stryker: Nothing to this. The part where Sandman kicked Stryker and caught the cane was pretty cool.

Test vs. Balls Mahoney: Pretty good, quick match. I wonder how much longer Hardcore Holly will be out. This just shows how bad he cut his back.

Sabu vs. Shannon Moore: I'm cleaning up on the fantasy. I just need a Tommy Dreamer (I guess he's not on the show tonight) and an RVD win now.

Rob Van Dam vs. Big Show: Another good match. Holly returned with a vengeance and gave RVD the win. RVD's frog splash still amazes me.

Raw liveblog: Promoting the biggest match ever

Randy Orton and Edge segment: Good call in not having Edge and Orton take the DX parody too far. Their the heels, so they can't be funny. They did a good job.

Cryme Tyme vs. Spirit Squad: Such a silly gimmick for Cryme Tyme. Good to see Kenny breaking away from the Squad. He's supposed to be a talented wrestler.

Fatal Four-Way: Great, great match. Maybe the best on Raw this year. Shelton Benjamin has really stepped it up. Unbelievable athleticism.

Johnny Nitro: I can't believe I just saw Kevin Federline not only come down to the ring to play the heel, which he did nicely, but let John Cena talk about his wife and took an FU. He is desperate for some publicity. I think WWE should keep K-Fed.

Carlito vs. Rob Conway: I can't believe I just saw Steve-O in attendance since TNA promoted his movie.

Umaga: Boy, WWE didn't let off with rubbing in the "Jackass 2" connection. And another good jub by guys outside the business in taking a bump by Steve-O and that other guy.

Women's match: I don't think Maria will be winning the women's title.

Triple H vs. Randy Orton: DX domingation continues. Surely they won't keep winning through Cyber Sunday?
